School Prayer

The Salve Regina is a traditional Marian antiphon, composed during the Middle Ages, and typically sung or recited during compline, the final hour in the daily liturgical prayer cycle in the Roman rite. It is the official hymn and school prayer of Ville de Marie Academy. The faculty and students gather in the chapel each morning to recite the Salve Regina in English and gather again at the end of each day to sing this hymn in Latin in honor of Our Lady. We offer thanksgiving for the many blessings we have received through her intercession and we ask for her continued guidance and protection throughout our lives:

Salve Regina, Mater misericordiae. O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria. Amen.

V. Ora pro nobis, Sancta Dei Genitrix.

R. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy. Hail, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us.  And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Morning Prayers

In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti, Amen

O Jesus, through the sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer thee all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day for the intentions of Thy Sacred Heart in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world; in reparation for my sins; for the intentions of all our associates and benefactors; and in particular for all the intentions of this month.  Amen.

Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore you.  Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me.  Tell me what I should say and do.  Give me Your orders.  I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me.  Let me only know Your Will.  Amen.

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;  He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. Amen.

Pater noster, qui es in caelis, sanctificetur nomen tuum.  Adveniat regnum tuum. Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo et in terra.  Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie, et dimitte nobis debita nostra sicut et nos dimittimus debitoribus nostris.  Et ne nos inducas in tentationem, sed libera nos a malo.  Amen

Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum.  Benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Iesus.  Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc, et in hora mortis nostrae.  Amen.

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto.  Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum.  Amen.

My Queen!  My Mother!  I give myself entirely to thee, and to show my devotion to thee, I consecrate to thee this day my eyes, my ears, my mouth, my heart, my whole being without reserve.  Wherefore, dear Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, guard me, as thy property and possession.  Amen.

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here; ever this day be at my side, to light, to guard, to rule, to guide.  Amen.

R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit. (Hail Mary…)

V. Let us pray.

R. Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord.  Amen

REGINA CAELI (during Easter Season)

V.  Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia

R.  For He whom thou didst merit to bear, alleluia

V.  Has risen, as he said, alleluia

R. Pray for us to God, alleluia

V.  Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia

R.  For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.

Let us pray.  O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life.  Through the same Christ our  Lord.  Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided.  Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful.  O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.  Amen

Bless us, O Lord, and these Thy gifts which we are about to receive from Thy bounty through Christ Our Lord.  Amen

Prayers for the End of the School Day

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love.  I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more and to avoid the near occasions of sin.  Amen.

Pardon all sinners, O Lord, by Thy infinite love and lead them to the way of Thy justice.  Protect them and theirs in the face of the onslaught of evil.  Redeem all who have done evil, and may God’s mercy be upon them.

My God, Thou art my God and my all!  My Jesus, Mercy!  Jesus Christ King of Mercy, I trust in Thee!  Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you.  Save Souls!

O clemens, O pia, O dulcis Virgo Maria.

V:  Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix.

R: Ut digni efficiamor promissionibus Christi.

Prayers after Mass

Soul of Christ, sanctify me.

Body of Christ, save me.

Blood of Christ, inebriate me.

Water from the side of Christ, wash me.

Passion of Christ, strengthen me.

O good Jesus, hear me.

Within Thy wounds, hide me.

Suffer me not to be separated from Thee.

From the malignant enemy, defend me.

In the hour of my death, call me.

And bid me come to Thee.

That with Thy Saints I may praise Thee

Forever and ever.  Amen

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.  May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into Hell, Satan and all the other evil spirits, who prowl about the world, seeking the ruin of souls.  Amen
