About Christine Barriga

Christine was born in Tucson, Arizona and received her BA in Elementary/Special Education from U of A and her MS in Education with a specialty in Reading from CSUF. She has been married for 42 years and has 2 wonderful daughters and a son-in-law.

While living in California, she served for 25 years in the Catholic school system as a teacher, a reading specialist, an inclusive education coordinator, and an assistant principal. Her teaching experience includes teaching PreKindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 4th grade. As a reading specialist and inclusive education coordinator, she assessed students and implemented reading plans for students in grades K-7. Before returning to AZ in 2009, she and her husband began studying the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. Her prayers were answered when she was led to Ville de Marie and saw that the school was devoted to our Blessed Mother and based on the Ignatian principles of education. She feels blessed to be serving in a community where parents are truly the first educators of their children and where parents and educators are strongly united by the love of their Catholic faith as they work together for the greater glory of God.
